Tugay Sabeddin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 12th minute of the match. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Atay Beysun sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Atay Beysun got free with Arnout Reekers in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Şerafettin Demirkan in the 22nd minute of play. 26 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tugay Sabeddin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Metin Tekin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. Atay Beysun could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. After some careless play in the Netherlands defense, Şerafettin Demirkan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnout Reekers. The Netherlands fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnout Reekers should have stopped the shot. The Netherlands supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Netherlands would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
