The coaching staff of Algarrobo protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Salvador Mateluna had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 5th minute of the game. One of Algarrobo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Independente FC:s goal. Algarrobo's Cecilio Tenorio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adriano Tande in the 18th minute of play. Cecilio Tenorio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adriano Tande, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Cecilio Tenorio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nilson Duarte in the 33rd minute of the match. In the 37th match minute, Algarrobo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Petr Čech to maneuver through the defense. Nilson Duarte took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 38th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Cecilio Tenorio. When Friedrich Händel came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Algarrobo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Friedrich Händel couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nilson Duarte in the 43rd minute of play forced Algarrobo's goalkeeper Cecilio Tenorio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute, Fernando Lucas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Independente FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Adolf Eichmann stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Independente FC's Fernando Lucas slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cecilio Tenorio. That made the score 0-3 after 57 minutes of play. In the 60th minute of the match, Adriano Tande tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Cecilio Tenorio saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Algarrobo's Juan María Squella quite brazenly broke a throw-in by You Yuan, made in the 67th minute of the game. The referee ignored Algarrobo's protests and gave Alcides Cubillos a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Algarrobo getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Alcides Cubillos hit a great ball. The Algarrobo fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Independente FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
