A collision led to Los Delfines getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Ambrosio Bartolome hit a great ball. When Ambrosio Bartolome got the opportunity to take care of a free kick it resulted in a really dangerous shot that almost went in the goal. Instead the ball went too high, a missed opportunity for Los Delfines. In the 13th minute Jude Monkhouse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matías Patrone saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alessio Borrelli got free with Carlos Augusto Quintal in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dé Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matías Patrone having to interfere. In the 23rd minute, Honorio Eder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aloísio Secco took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 24th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Matías Patrone. Los Delfines's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With his leg Carlos Augusto Quintal managed to avoid a goal in the 30thth minute, when Los Delfines's Alessio Borrelli fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Los Delfines's Matías Patrone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jude Monkhouse in the 34th minute of play. 36 minutes into the game, Jude Monkhouse cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Matías Patrone was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 42 minutes into the match, Anderson Paiva had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Matías Patrone. Los Delfines's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Anderson Paiva was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After the first half Várzea F.C. were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

51 minutes into the match, Los Delfines's goal looked a bit too open when Jude Monkhouse came free, but Matías Patrone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Delmiro Licerio in the 52nd minute of play forced Los Delfines's goalkeeper Matías Patrone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dé Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Matías Patrone made a huge save. Matías Patrone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anderson Paiva in the 95th minute of play. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
