Gijsbert ter Kruimer started the match with the kick off. Motta Futebol Clube's Aírton de Lima played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 6th minute of play. After 7 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Bas Tuitert. 11 minutes into the game, Gijsbert ter Kruimer cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Aírton de Lima was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Aírton de Lima made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 18th minute of play. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wim Wilmes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Aírton de Lima tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 26th minute of play forced Motta Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Aírton de Lima to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lu Ladron who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 28thth minute tested the skills of Arnout Reekers when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 35 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Lu Ladron came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artur Sabóia in the 38th minute of play. The supporters of Motta Futebol Clube booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lars Meesters didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Lu Ladron tried to sneak it across the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Lu Ladron made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Válbson de Alcântara in the 53rd minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 55th minute of the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Aírton de Lima saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 56th minute. 60 minutes into the match, Artur Sabóia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Artur Sabóia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. In the 69th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aírton de Lima saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 80 minutes, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wim Wilmes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Motta Futebol Clube's Aírton de Lima proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Motta Futebol Clube from getting a goal against them. Leandro Saldanha kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. In the 84th minute, David Eikelkamp hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bas Tuitert scored 1-3 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aírton de Lima, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Motta Futebol Clube booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Eikelkamp didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lu Ladron sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Mathijn Doctor got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Artur Sabóia blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arnout Reekers having to make a save. Wim Wilmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Aírton de Lima made a huge save. Netherlands's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
