When Lars Steen came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Denmark fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lars Steen couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Chris Nygaard in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roman Iza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 15th match minute, Denmark was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lars Steen to maneuver through the defense. In the 18th minute, Kenn Skou hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rio Gallegos Unidos's Emilio Nuno got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Roman Iza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bertram Svenningsen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chris Nygaard in the 22nd minute of play forced Rio Gallegos Unidos's goalkeeper Roman Iza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bertram Svenningsen struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Roman Iza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Denmark. A sloppy throw-in by Oscar Iyan in the 29th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Denmark's Simon Bendtsen. Rio Gallegos Unidos's Roman Iza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chris Nygaard in the 31st minute of play. The corner led Denmark's Chris Nygaard to fire away a dangerous shot which Roman Iza despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Chris Nygaard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roman Iza having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Chris Nygaard to make the kick off. In the 51st minute Paulino Mancio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Keld Paulsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Rio Gallegos Unidos's zone, Bertram Svenningsen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roman Iza came out of the goal and Bertram Svenningsen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Roman Iza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chris Nygaard in the 56th minute of play. Rio Gallegos Unidos's Roman Iza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Rio Gallegos Unidos from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chris Nygaard in the 61st minute of play forced Rio Gallegos Unidos's goalkeeper Roman Iza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Keld Paulsen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulino Mancio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lars Steen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Roman Iza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Roman Iza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chris Nygaard, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Paulino Mancio hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Rio Gallegos Unidos's Roman Iza got control of the ball when Chris Nygaard tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rio Gallegos Unidos's Paulino Mancio got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 75th match minute, Rio Gallegos Unidos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albino Lapurdi to maneuver through the defense. If Oscar Iyan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rio Gallegos Unidos's Bartolo Abar was substituted for Oscar Iyan. Bartolo Abar hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Bartolo Abar struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Keld Paulsen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rio Gallegos Unidos.
