An unexpectedly hard shot by Hugo Almeida in the 33rd minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th match minute, SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquim Ferraz to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Frank Sachs managed to get in a good position for a shot. Germany's Tommy Kahn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hugo Almeida in the 97th minute of play. The SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
