Grêmio FBPA's defense didn't have a chance, in the 8th minute, when Ivar Dalman scored to the left of an out of position Andréas Linquist, making the score, 1-0. 11 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's Virgiliu Doroftei sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hudson Gaúcho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Grêmio FBPA's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Stayko Vakareliyski in the 13th minute. In the 19th minute Wellington Pires shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andréas Linquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 24 played minutes Grêmio FBPA got a freekick which was hit by Natã Ramalho. Maxim Vasilitã's shot from long distance in the 25th minute was not bad at all, but Grêmio FBPA's Andréas Linquist knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. Virgiliu Doroftei took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hudson Gaúcho. Hudson Gaúcho dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The supporters of Austra VFC booed when Grêmio FBPA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovanildo Zago didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hudson Gaúcho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgiliu Doroftei in the 31st minute of play. In the 31st minute, Virgiliu Doroftei left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Grêmio FBPA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. A collision led to Grêmio FBPA getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Natã Ramalho hit a great ball. When Maxim Vasilitã came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Austra VFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maxim Vasilitã couldn't finish the play. Virgiliu Doroftei's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hudson Gaúcho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wellington Pires got free with Andréas Linquist in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Austra VFC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Grêmio FBPA were winning 1-2.

The wind increased when Wellington Pires made the kick off in the second half. Manfredo Pombal made in the 51st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Virgiliu Doroftei. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Austra VFC's goalkeeper Hudson Gaúcho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 62 minutes into the game, Virgiliu Doroftei recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Hudson Gaúcho. Virgiliu Doroftei showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. Leandro Vianna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andréas Linquist having to interfere. Andréas Linquist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leandro Vianna in the 77th minute of the match. With a little luck, Austra VFC's Hudson Gaúcho got control of the ball when Virgiliu Doroftei tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leandro Vianna in the 81st minute of play forced Grêmio FBPA's goalkeeper Andréas Linquist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Grêmio FBPA's Virgiliu Doroftei slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Hudson Gaúcho. That made the score 1-4 after 86 minutes of play. Austra VFC's Marcus Pollard was substituted for Leandro Vianna. Andréas Linquist came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Austra VFC's Marcus Pollard. But to his dismay, Marcus Pollard quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-4.
