In the 5th minute, Olav Graversen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 6 minutes into the match, Denmark's goalkeeper Keld Paulsen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristóvão Valle. The supporters of Denmark booed when EC Fragata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilmar Damião didn't get a good kick on the ball. Denmark's Bertram Svenningsen got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Magno Leite stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chris Nygaard's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Bertram Svenningsen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 21st minute, EC Fragata's Gilmar Damião dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Mikkel Wulff struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Magno Leite didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Denmark. Denmark's Bertram Svenningsen got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gilmar Damião was extremely unlucky when he, in the 35th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 42 minutes into the game, Lars Steen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Denmark's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave EC Fragata the free kick. A collision led to Denmark getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Lars Steen hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edu Paiva got free with Keld Paulsen in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Chris Nygaard's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Magno Leite read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilmar Damião in the 47th minute of play forced Denmark's goalkeeper Keld Paulsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Chris Nygaard made a kick off. When Bertram Svenningsen came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Denmark fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bertram Svenningsen couldn't finish the play. EC Fragata's Gilmar Damião got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Denmark's Olav Graversen quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Didi Rodrigues, made in the 57th minute of the game. Edu Paiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Keld Paulsen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Magno Leite took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chris Nygaard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 65th minute, Denmark's Bjarne Kirkegaard seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Bjarne Kirkegaard the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Denmark protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Bjarne Kirkegaard had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 65th minute, one of Denmark:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Denmark. In the 67th minute there was a penalty for EC Fragata. Antônio Alcântara stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Keld Paulsen. 2-0. In the 70th match minute, EC Fragata was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Didi Rodrigues to maneuver through the defense. In the 73rd minute Gilmar Damião shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Keld Paulsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 73 minutes into the game, Gilmar Damião cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Keld Paulsen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 77th minute, Mikkel Wulff got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Keld Paulsen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilmar Damião in the 78th minute of the match. In the 83rd minute, Didi Rodrigues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 84th match minute, Denmark was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bertram Svenningsen to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, EC Fragata's Cesinha Trancoso got a free kick in the 86th minute. Keld Paulsen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edu Paiva in the 89th minute of play. Bertram Svenningsen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Magno Leite tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bertram Svenningsen charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bertram Svenningsen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Bertram Svenningsen kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. Denmark's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
