The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dante Fernendo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toro Martínez in the 8th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matias Bilintx in the 11th minute of play forced Despidida AFC's goalkeeper Fernando Selatse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Toro Martínez in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dante Fernendo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 20 minutes of play, Despidida AFC's Toro Martínez made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dante Fernendo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Toro Martínez took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dante Fernendo. Dante Fernendo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Dante Fernendo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Toro Martínez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th minute Despidida AFC were awarded a corner. Emanuel Lucila went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Despidida AFC's Emanuel Lucila to fire away a dangerous shot which Dante Fernendo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Dante Fernendo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toro Martínez in the 39th minute of the match. In the 39th minute, Alejandro Rufo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Toro Martínez might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dante Fernendo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Toro Martínez ran back to his position shaking his head. Fernando Selatse came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx. But to his dismay, Matias Bilintx quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. The supporters of Despidida AFC booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Esteban Ekaitz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sporting de Gijón's Carolo Ovando was substituted for Denis Bonadona. Esteban Ekaitz kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Toro Martínez to make the kick off. In the 56thth minute of the game Toro Martínez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sporting de Gijón's Dante Fernendo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 59 minutes into the match, Despidida AFC's Toro Martínez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dante Fernendo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Arturo Arano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Despidida AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Arturo Arano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dante Fernendo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Despidida AFC's Czeslaw Kopacz was substituted for Ancho Branca. Despidida AFC made a substitution. Pastor Tino replaced Arturo Arano. Dante Fernendo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emiliano Velasco in the 67th minute of the match. Matias Bilintx blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fernando Selatse having to make a save. Fernando Selatse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matias Bilintx, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. In the 73rd minute of the match Emanuel Lucila sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dante Fernendo skillfully saved the ball. The audience was convinced that Czeslaw Kopacz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dante Fernendo was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Dante Fernendo came out of the goal and Emanuel Lucila tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 93rd match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rune Fanström to maneuver through the defense. 95 minutes into the match, Emiliano Velasco notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of Sporting de Gijón's Dante Fernendo. Dante Fernendo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Despidida AFC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Sporting de Gijón had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
