After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Herminio Florinio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Deportivo Águila's supporters rose to their feet, but Herminio Florinio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dursun Ekinci breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 15th minute Herminio Florinio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dursun Ekinci saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bozkurt Tanyıldız recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dursun Ekinci took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herminio Florinio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sümer Müjdat sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bozkurt Tanyıldız got free with Gustavo Guimarães in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Filiph Låsberg who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 34thth minute tested the skills of Gustavo Guimarães when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With an all-out effort, Gençlerbirliği's Gustavo Guimarães threw himself towards the right post 42 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Stanley St Clair, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dário Diniz to strike the kick off in the second half. Alberto Alvarenga's late challenge caught a Gençlerbirliği's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alberto Alvarenga helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Club Deportivo Águila's Alberto Alvarenga got a free kick in the 71st minute. In the 87th minute, William Corpeño hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gustavo Guimarães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stanley St Clair in the 88th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stanley St Clair in the 90th minute of play forced Club Deportivo Águila's goalkeeper Gustavo Guimarães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Club Deportivo Águila defense, Sümer Müjdat kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gustavo Guimarães. The Club Deportivo Águila fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gustavo Guimarães should have stopped the shot. Gustavo Guimarães came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Gençlerbirliği's Sümer Müjdat. But to his dismay, Sümer Müjdat quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. There was no doubt that Gençlerbirliği were the better team. Gençlerbirliği's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
