Karl-Heinz Rummenigge scored 2-1 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zé Roberto Teixeira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Playa Malvín's Zé Roberto Teixeira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Milosz Majczyk in the 44th minute of play. Zé Roberto Teixeira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Milosz Majczyk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Playa Malvín's Sesuldo Roque was substituted for Sandu Mândrilă. Playa Malvín's Josu Onez was substituted for Jabier Igual. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in the 87th minute of play forced Playa Malvín's goalkeeper Zé Roberto Teixeira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Willian Cuesta made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Niva Espellosa sent off a good shot on target. Willian Cuesta was out of position in the 92 minute of play, and Niva Espellosa capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Niva Espellosa really showed his touch with that goal: 5-3. Zé Roberto Teixeira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Recai Nusrettin in the 98th minute of play.
