With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sérgio Chulapa in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luís Fábio Bittencourt saved E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO from getting behind. Luís Fábio Bittencourt came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by POPULAR F.C's Sérgio Chulapa. But to his dismay, Sérgio Chulapa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Sérgio Chulapa took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luís Fábio Bittencourt. Luís Fábio Bittencourt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. Luís Fábio Bittencourt didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when POPULAR F.C's Sérgio Chulapa shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-6 in the ordered_time% minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sérgio Chulapa to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Zeca Peres got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Oscar Custódio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. RIO DE JANEIRO's attentive Jorge Lima managed to snatch the ball when Lenílson Alagoano made a throw-in in the 66th minute of the game. Sandro Paranaense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cleiton Freire, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. In the 69th minute Oscar Custódio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Fábio Bittencourt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Osmar Garcia took a quick shot and it went in 0-7 without a chance for Luís Fábio Bittencourt to make any attempt to save it. After 73 played minutes POPULAR F.C got a freekick which was hit by Lenílson Alagoano. After 85 played minutes E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO got a freekick which was hit by Cleiton Freire. 86 minutes into the game, João Carlos Baiano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. POPULAR F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO the free kick. Through an outstanding action, after 88 minutes, Luís Fábio Bittencourt successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Luís Fábio Bittencourt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sérgio Chulapa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 94 minutes into the match, Sérgio Chulapa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luís Fábio Bittencourt. E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sérgio Chulapa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-8. After a rather tough play, POPULAR F.C's Lenílson Alagoano got a free kick in the 96th minute. POPULAR F.C's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
