Gil Cavalcantes short, quick shot in the 17thth minute got Fred Camargo to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 21st minute, POPULAR F.C's Gil Cavalcante ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Fred Camargo. Fred Camargo yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. After 33 played minutes POPULAR F.C got a freekick which was hit by Lenílson Alagoano. With a little luck, ContraVersão's Fred Camargo got control of the ball when Oscar Custódio tried to sneak it across the goal line. 38 minutes into the game, Lenílson Alagoano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. POPULAR F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ContraVersão the free kick. Lenílson Alagoano hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. If Frederico Quirino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gil Cavalcante stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
