When Capibaribe Stars's Váldson de Sena in the 3rd minute got a chance for a shot 3rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye POPULAR F.C's goalie prevented a goal. After some careless play in the POPULAR F.C defense, Váldson de Sena kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fabinho Sá. The POPULAR F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fabinho Sá should have stopped the shot. André Luiz Albuquerque could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Edgar Paraíba made a huge save. POPULAR F.C's Fabinho Sá played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oscar dos Santos in the 20th minute of play. Fabinho Sá made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Váldson de Sena in the 21st minute of play. When Acácio Peres came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Capibaribe Stars fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Acácio Peres couldn't finish the play. Edgar Paraíba came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by POPULAR F.C's André Luiz Albuquerque. But to his dismay, André Luiz Albuquerque quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Váldson de Sena in the 27th minute of play forced POPULAR F.C's goalkeeper Fabinho Sá to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fabinho Sá showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Acácio Peres in the 28th minute of the match. After 31 minutes of play, Capibaribe Stars's Ian Koehler made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fabinho Sá was left in no man's land by his defense there! André Luiz Albuquerque received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Edgar Paraíba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th minute, Oscar dos Santos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Capibaribe Stars fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. In the 40th match minute, POPULAR F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorival Passos to maneuver through the defense. Acácio Peres struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Fabinho Sá didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Capibaribe Stars. A collision led to Capibaribe Stars getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Acácio Peres hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dorival Passos to make the kick off. In the 51st minute of the game, Luisinho Arantes landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. 51 minutes into the game, André Luiz Albuquerque was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. POPULAR F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Capibaribe Stars the free kick. Capibaribe Stars's Evandro Barbosa was substituted for Luisinho Arantes. In the 52nd minute, André Luiz Albuquerque hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice moves Váldson de Sena could shoot a difficult shot in the 55th minute, which Fabinho Sá however easily saved by the left post. Fabinho Sá made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar dos Santos in the 57th minute of play. If Váldson de Sena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 78th match minute, POPULAR F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Luís Bertassi to maneuver through the defense. Fabinho Sá took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oscar dos Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Breno Esteves took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 96th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Fabinho Sá. POPULAR F.C's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Capibaribe Stars had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
