The audience was convinced that Robert McNeill's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vatan Sidam was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. Tatvanspor's Vatan Sidam played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ashton Nelson in the 6th minute of play. The supporters of Tatvanspor booed when Scotland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kian MacGregor didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Baykam Şengil in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alexander Higgins saved Scotland from getting behind. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Scotland's Alexander Higgins proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Scotland from getting a goal against them. Tatvanspor's Baykam Şengil got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Tatvanspor's Ali Haydar Kadi got a free kick in the 31st minute. Melih Cevdet Onultan scored 1-0 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alexander Higgins, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Zac O'Donnell took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vatan Sidam. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
The wind increased when Melih Cevdet Onultan made the kick off in the second half. Baykam Şengil might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alexander Higgins. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Baykam Şengil ran back to his position shaking his head. Alexander Higgins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ali Haydar Kadi in the 54th minute of play. When Ashton Nelson was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 58 minutes had been played. A collision led to Scotland getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Ashton Nelson hit a great ball. In the 61st minute, Demirhan Tekrim made a precise shot to the right of Alexander Higgins. Scotland's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Melih Cevdet Onultan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Alexander Higgins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
