Slovakia's Oliver Holub got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Saturn Świętochłowice booed when Slovakia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zigmund Maliar didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Slovakia fans' excitement grew in the 16th match minute when Slovakia's Metod Mlynar looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Eugeniusz Golota who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Henrich Slany when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 25th match minute, Slovakia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vít Biskup to maneuver through the defense. Czeslaw Zawacki fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henrich Slany having to interfere. Tolek Modliszewski got a throw-in 30 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Napoleon Laskowski. A collision led to Slovakia getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Vavrinec Koleno hit a great ball. A hard shot 38 in the game by Eugeniusz Golota from a close distance when the talented Henrich Slany managed to make a qualified save. Slovakia's players were relieved. In the 39th minute Rafal Ogrodowicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henrich Slany saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oliver Holub kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Henrich Slany showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Czeslaw Zawacki, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. The Saturn Świętochłowice players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Slovakia were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Metod Mlynar to make the kick off. Metod Mlynar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Bogdan Spychalski made a huge save. Henrich Slany had in the 59thth minute some difficulties stopping Wojciech Mruk's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Slovakia's Oliver Holub got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Metod Mlynar succeeded in the game's 62nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. Saturn Świętochłowice's Bogdan Spychalski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Saturn Świętochłowice from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vavrinec Koleno during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 68 played minutes Slovakia got a freekick which was hit by Vavrinec Koleno. In the 72nd minute, Metod Mlynar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 88 minutes, Czeslaw Zawacki managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Saturn Świętochłowice's supporters crossed their fingers, but Czeslaw Zawacki was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bogdan Spychalski made a fantastic save in the 98th minute, when Metod Mlynar sent off a good shot on target. Slovakia were awarded a corner in the 99th minute after Saturn Świętochłowice's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Pavol Koleno took the corner. When the final whistle went the supporters of Slovakia were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Saturn Świętochłowice side.
