The Poland fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tolek Kiszkiel should have stopped the shot. Poland's Grzegorz Soszka quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Fausto Santana, made in the 14th minute of the game. Poland's Tolek Kiszkiel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benedicto Naelio in the 19th minute of play. In the 21st minute, Grzegorz Soszka hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paolo-César Maldini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Argentina's Gregorio Urtsin managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Grzegorz Soszka in the 24 minute of the game. If Benedicto Naelio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tolek Kiszkiel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benedicto Naelio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Poland's Tolek Kiszkiel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armando Felipillo in the 35th minute of play. After having played for 43 minutes, Benedicto Naelio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Argentina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Benedicto Naelio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Poland's attentive Grzegorz Soszka managed to snatch the ball when Fausto Santana made a throw-in in the 45th minute of the game. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the match had gone on for 92 minutes, Wincent Jaroch put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Lev Yashin. 95 minutes into the match, Poland's goal looked a bit too open when Amado Arotza came free, but Tolek Kiszkiel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
