The corner led to Gremio Viana's Lucílio Valente getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Christopher Bugelli made in the 23rd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Richard Rapinett immediately put the ball in play. After a rather tough play, Gremio Viana's Higino Queirós got a free kick in the 28th minute. The supporters of Meerkats FC booed when Gremio Viana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adalberto Amaro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st match minute, Meerkats FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Richard Rapinett to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Edson Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gremio Viana's supporters rose to their feet, but Edson Nascimento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fredric Hansson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Gremio Viana's Higino Queirós got a free kick in the 44th minute. Gremio Viana's João Carvalhais proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Gremio Viana from getting a goal against them. A hard shot 47 in the game by Bernard Degabriele from a close distance when the talented João Carvalhais managed to make a qualified save. Gremio Viana's players were relieved.

In the 56th minute, Fabrizio Crognale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 58th minute, Vincent Callus made a precise shot to the right of João Carvalhais. Fredric Hansson came out of the goal and Edson Nascimento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 71 minutes into the match, Gremio Viana's Edson Nascimento sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fredric Hansson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The throw-in from Christopher Bugelli in the 80th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Gremio Viana's Mauro Casado. Gremio Viana's João Carvalhais played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Debono in the 88th minute of play. If Bernard Degabriele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 96 minutes into the game, Meerkats FC's Julian Debono nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. João Carvalhais made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Despite being the better team, Meerkats FC failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
