Joaquim Paredes struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Prospero Ovando didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gremio Viana. Joaquim Paredes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Prospero Ovando having to interfere. If Ildefonso Distiratsu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of La France booed when Gremio Viana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucílio Valente didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Ildefonso Distiratsu kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Samuel Fiúza. That made the score 1-0 in the 20 minute of play. In the 22nd match minute, La France was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilberto Ugaitz to maneuver through the defense. Prospero Ovando made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Påk in the 24th minute of play. In the 29th minute of the game Gilberto Ugaitz made a throw-in which Eduardo Frutos played forward. 31 minutes into the match, Joaquim Paredes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Prospero Ovando. La France's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joaquim Paredes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After a rather tough play, Gremio Viana's Mariusz Lamczyk got a free kick in the 34th minute. Samuel Fiúza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ildefonso Distiratsu in the 39th minute of the match. Prospero Ovando took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquim Paredes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 43 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Joaquim Paredes sped through La France's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Prospero Ovando. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Gaudencio Pelayo made the kick off in the second half. 1-4 became the score in the 52nd minute when Joaquim Paredes elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. With a little luck, La France's Prospero Ovando got control of the ball when Joaquim Paredes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Felipe Clis's late challenge caught a Gremio Viana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felipe Clis helped the player get up and apologised. In the 61st minute, Felipe Clis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 63rd minute Joaquim Paredes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Prospero Ovando saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Prospero Ovando was out of position in the 95 minute of play, and Carlos Luna capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Carlos Luna really showed his touch with that goal: 2-6. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Gremio Viana eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
