In the 12th minute of the match, Conrado Mirande tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Romeo Pedroso saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 12 minutes, Conrado Mirande made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Club Universidad Nacional's Romeo Pedroso tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Jaime Errando hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Flavio Locaio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an all-out effort, Hermosillo FC's Romeo Pedroso threw himself towards the right post 30 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Antony Carmine, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 33rd minute Flavio Locaio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeo Pedroso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 35 minutes into the match, Flavio Locaio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Romeo Pedroso. Club Universidad Nacional's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Flavio Locaio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Donato Adrio got free with Romeo Pedroso in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Romeo Pedroso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Flavio Locaio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

Antony Carmine took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Romeo Pedroso. Romeo Pedroso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. 63 minutes into the match, Club Universidad Nacional's goal looked a bit too open when Antony Carmine came free, but Romeo Pedroso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Conrado Mirande in the 67th minute of play forced Club Universidad Nacional's goalkeeper Romeo Pedroso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 68 minutes in the game, Conrado Mirande dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Club Universidad Nacional's Romeo Pedroso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antony Carmine in the 70th minute of play. Romeo Pedroso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antony Carmine in the 72nd minute of the match. After 75 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Hermosillo FC! After 78 minutes Hermosillo FC's goalkeeper Samuel Evarado managed, with a little bit of luck, save Lorenzo Aimar's penalty, on his right side after a tricky shot. After a rather tough play, Club Universidad Nacional's Lorenzo Aimar got a free kick in the 81st minute. 88 minutes into the match, Club Universidad Nacional's goal looked a bit too open when Conrado Mirande came free, but Romeo Pedroso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Hermosillo FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Club Universidad Nacional had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
