In the 4th minute, Montevideo's Laerte Lucas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Rodolfo Salgado. Rodolfo Salgado yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 6th match minute, Montevideo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilson Fernandez to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilton Vale in the 13th minute of play forced Montevideo's goalkeeper Ronaldo Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. TAQUARI FC's Rodolfo Salgado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save TAQUARI FC from getting a goal against them. In the 19th minute Christian Passos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodolfo Salgado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilton Vale in the 21st minute of play. Zeca de Alcântara got a throw-in 23 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Olavo Matorin. Kabiru Rotimi kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. In the 28th minute, Pabla Zuniga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rodolfo Salgado made an important save on a dangerous shot by Laerte Lucas in the 30th minute. In the 31st minute, Wilton Vale left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The TAQUARI FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 40th minute of the game Zeca de Alcântara made a throw-in which Christian Passos played forward. After a rather tough play, Montevideo's Wilson Fernandez got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Rodolfo Salgado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laerte Lucas in the 44th minute of the match. After 45 played minutes TAQUARI FC got a freekick which was hit by Valer Covaliu. With an all-out effort, Montevideo's Rodolfo Salgado threw himself towards the right post 46 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Olavo Matorin, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Laerte Lucas to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Wilton Vale notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros. Ronaldo Medeiros was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Rodolfo Salgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Passos in the 62nd minute of play. TAQUARI FC's Rodolfo Salgado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olavo Matorin in the 68th minute of play. Montevideo's defense didn't have a chance, in the 74th minute, when Wilton Vale scored to the left of an out of position Ronaldo Medeiros, making the score, 1-4. TAQUARI FC's Giannis Karagiotis was substituted for Valer Covaliu. 79 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Wilton Vale came free, but Ronaldo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 88 minutes, Wilton Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. TAQUARI FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilton Vale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 94 minutes into the game, one of Montevideo:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Montevideo:s Ronaldo Medeiros showed great skill when he stopped Wilton Vale:s penalty. Chants of TAQUARI FC echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Montevideo had held the ball for most of the match.
