Evelio Antoniano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Deilmison van Basten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Betão Marquez in the 35th minute of play forced Criciúma Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Evelio Antoniano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Deilmison van Basten in the 48th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Evelio Antoniano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

Rodriguinho Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Laurentzi in the 81st minute of play. In the 87th minute, Erubiel Valery hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 93 minutes into the match, Deilmison van Basten notched a goal, 1-8, to the right of Criciúma Esporte Clube's Evelio Antoniano. Evelio Antoniano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. ATHLETICO PRaiano's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
