The crowd rose to their feet as Wilton Vale kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ronaldo Medeiros. That made the score 1-0 in the 10 minute of play. Montevideo's attentive Bray McJon managed to snatch the ball when Ernani Souto made a throw-in in the 14th minute of the game. TAQUARI FC were furious when Chupan Doar was red carded, 16 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 15 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for TAQUARI FC! Wilson Fernandez shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. In the 24th minute of the match, Kabiru Rotimi tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ronaldo Medeiros saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 26th minute, Igor Tinoco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ronaldo Medeiros was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 29th minute, Kabiru Rotimi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The TAQUARI FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. When Laerte Lucas came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Montevideo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Laerte Lucas couldn't finish the play. Rodolfo Salgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olavo Matorin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute of the match Montevideo got a corner. TAQUARI FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Wilson Fernandez ran over to the corner to take the kick. Montevideo's Fernandão Recife was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Rodolfo Salgado in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A collision led to TAQUARI FC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Igor Tinoco hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kabiru Rotimi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to TAQUARI FC getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Igor Tinoco hit a great ball. 52 minutes into the match, Laerte Lucas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Rodolfo Salgado, 3-2. After having played for 59 minutes, Igor Tinoco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. TAQUARI FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Igor Tinoco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fernandão Recife struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Rodolfo Salgado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montevideo. Christian Barreto kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. After 66 minutes of play, TAQUARI FC's Kabiru Rotimi made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ronaldo Medeiros was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, TAQUARI FC's Frank Lampard got a free kick in the 70th minute. Ronaldo Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kabiru Rotimi in the 90th minute of the match.
