Arnout Reekers was out of position in the 14 minute of play, and Daniel Bazán capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Daniel Bazán really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Lars Meesters sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Felix Kroos hit a great ball. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Bazán in the 27th minute of the match. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. In the 40th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. The supporters of Netherlands booed when C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artemio Bernabel didn't get a good kick on the ball. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gijsbert ter Kruimer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lorenzo Olayo hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA's zone, Gijsbert ter Kruimer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ubaldo Teofilio came out of the goal and Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ubaldo Teofilio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 58th minute of the match. Ubaldo Teofilio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 61st minute. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 62th minute after C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner.
