Eric Hjortsberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Willy Stieler's late challenge caught a IGUIPORÃ FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Willy Stieler helped the player get up and apologised. In the 12th match minute, Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Willy Stieler to maneuver through the defense. IGUIPORÃ FC's Danél Iriart quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Linus Schwerner, made in the 15th minute of the game. The audience was convinced that Frank Sachs's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Carioca was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. After having played for 45 minutes, Frank Sachs managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Germany's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frank Sachs was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. IGUIPORÃ FC's Eric Hjortsberg got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The referee felt a red card was in order, 54 minutes into the game, when Sven Krakouer put in a rough tackle. After 54 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Germany! IGUIPORÃ FC's He Shi Yu was substituted for Adriano Alagoano. In the 70th minute of the game Danél Iriart made a throw-in which Zé Carlos Velasco played forward. If Albin Holweck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustavo Sergipano in the 78th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Germany's Tommy Kahn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eric Hjortsberg in the 80th minute of play. In the 95th minute Luiz Paulo Chaves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. IGUIPORÃ FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
