The tension between the Vila Nova FC and the SORRISO E. C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jano Queiroz hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. In the 13th minute, Eliseu Pinheiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Beto de Sousa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After a rather tough play, Vila Nova FC's Wanderson Baptista got a free kick in the 17th minute. Valdo Catarinense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wanderson Baptista, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wanderson Baptista in the 24th minute of play forced SORRISO E. C.'s goalkeeper Valdo Catarinense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SORRISO E. C.'s Valdo Catarinense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wanderson Baptista in the 26th minute of play. After a rather tough play, SORRISO E. C.'s Eliseu Pinheiro got a free kick in the 30th minute. Valdo Catarinense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Serginho Nóbrega, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rd minute, Mateus Salgado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Serginho Nóbrega in the 34th minute of play forced SORRISO E. C.'s goalkeeper Valdo Catarinense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Beto de Sousa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cláudio Couto in the 37th minute. Víktor Sanches charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Víktor Sanches the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Vila Nova FC's Víktor Sanches got a free kick in the 41st minute. SORRISO E. C.'s Leopoldo Trancoso got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cacá da Fonseca kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 46 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Leopoldo Trancoso sped through Vila Nova FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Beto de Sousa. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leopoldo Trancoso made a kick off. Beto de Sousa came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by SORRISO E. C.'s Eliseu Pinheiro. But to his dismay, Eliseu Pinheiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Osvaldinho Prestes charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Osvaldinho Prestes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Osvaldinho Prestes hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Beto de Sousa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leopoldo Trancoso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Vila Nova FC defense, Leopoldo Trancoso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Beto de Sousa. The Vila Nova FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Beto de Sousa should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Serginho Nóbrega took a quick shot and it went in 4-1 without a chance for Valdo Catarinense to make any attempt to save it. Cláudio Couto struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Beto de Sousa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SORRISO E. C.. SORRISO E. C.'s supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
