In the 109th minute Wilfredo Benvide shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmílson Veloso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilfredo Benvide fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 111th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmílson Veloso having to interfere. The first half of extra-time was a real thriller. Both teams had created chances, but they were still tied when the whistle blew. The players were able to take a short breather during the short break.

The players still looked rather fresh even though it was time for second half of the overtime. Wilfredo Benvide did a quick kick off. After some careless play in the Formentera defense, Saturnino Johans kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Astor Aragones. The Formentera fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Astor Aragones should have stopped the shot.
