An unexpectedly hard shot by Abel Ferraz in the 4th minute of play forced Serbia's goalkeeper Zvezdan Nedeljkovic to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juvenal Leme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sreten Popovic, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in GAVIÕES F.C's zone, Sreten Popovic stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juvenal Leme came out of the goal and Sreten Popovic tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Serbia's Zvezdan Nedeljkovic proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Serbia from getting a goal against them. If Sreten Popovic had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of GAVIÕES F.C booed when Serbia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Momir Gisic didn't get a good kick on the ball. GAVIÕES F.C's Juvenal Leme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sreten Popovic in the 31st minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, GAVIÕES F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Sreten Popovic came free, but Juvenal Leme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Borjan Golubovic had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sreten Popovic was the one to do the kick off. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Sreten Popovic took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Juvenal Leme to make any attempt to save it. Arthur de Brito blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Zvezdan Nedeljkovic having to make a save.
