The referee ignored SAS's protests and gave Agostinho Carneiro a yellow card for diving instead. Edvaldo Brasil made an important save on a dangerous shot by Anselmo Fantini in the 14th minute. Edvaldo Brasil didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sydney Ramalho went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Ernesto Berger hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Luiz Eduardo Galvão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Guilherme Paraense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
