An unexpectedly hard shot by Afşar Uçuk in the 7th minute of play forced Toronto Marlies FC's goalkeeper Anfilogino Amicone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Karol Panasewicz in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Anfilogino Amicone prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 10th minute Blue Mountain State were awarded a corner. Afşar Uçuk went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Rıfat Tanır got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Anfilogino Amicone quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 12th minute Karol Panasewicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anfilogino Amicone saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Anfilogino Amicone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karol Panasewicz in the 14th minute of play. In the 19th minute, Karol Panasewicz made a precise shot to the right of Anfilogino Amicone. Toronto Marlies FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Robin Sharma made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Gigel Bucur sent off a good shot on target. After 39 minutes of play, Blue Mountain State's Karol Panasewicz made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Anfilogino Amicone was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half Blue Mountain State were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gigel Bucur stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
