The tension between the Real Racing Club and the Wellington Phoenix players grew even worse after the yellow card. Wellington Phoenix's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Amadeu Maranhense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Zeca Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Côme Concha in the 30th minute of the match. Conrado Quadros kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Real Racing Club's defense didn't have a chance, in the 33rd minute, when Gustavo Sabóia scored to the left of an out of position Elpidio Bala, making the score, 1-1. Gustavo Sabóia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elpidio Bala having to interfere. Zeca Santos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from German Iraido, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Wellington Phoenix's Zeca Santos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Côme Concha in the 42nd minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Through an outstanding action, after 56 minutes, Zeca Santos successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After a rather tough play, Wellington Phoenix's Walmyr Freitas got a free kick in the 57th minute. Wellington Phoenix's Belmiro Teixeira was substituted for Virgílio Alagoano. After 58 played minutes Wellington Phoenix got a freekick which was hit by Walmyr Freitas. Wellington Phoenix made a substitution. Wesley Phoenix replaced Mazinho Baptista. Wellington Phoenix's Juarês Teixeira was substituted for Amadeu Maranhense. After 68 played minutes, Wellington Phoenix's Juarês Teixeira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Elpidio Bala came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Wellington Phoenix reached it. 70 minutes into the game, German Iraido recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Zeca Santos. German Iraido showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. Conrado Quadros struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Elpidio Bala didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wellington Phoenix. After a rather tough play, Wellington Phoenix's Murillo Rodrigues got a free kick in the 77th minute. German Iraido was extremely unlucky when he, in the 83rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Côme Concha received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Zeca Santos came out and tried to block the shot, but Côme Concha slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 91st minute.
