The nice shot from Luciano Rodrigues in the 8thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Eulalio Casado had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Lapachito's Herminio Erruki managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Eurico Massa in the 13 minute of the game. Luciano Rodrigues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Eulalio Casado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 21 minutes, Gerson Furlan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Clube Atlético Luziense's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gerson Furlan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Luciano Rodrigues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 26 played minutes Lapachito got a freekick which was hit by Herminio Erruki. After a defensive mix-up in Lapachito's zone, Geraldo de Sena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eulalio Casado came out of the goal and Geraldo de Sena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jairo Fonseca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jesus Tiso, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Durval Luz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luciano Rodrigues got free with Eulalio Casado in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jesus Tiso was the one to do the kick off. Jairo Fonseca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gavino Henry in the 52nd minute. Nestor Marques struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Jairo Fonseca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lapachito. Orlando Tajo's late challenge caught a Clube Atlético Luziense's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Orlando Tajo helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Clube Atlético Luziense booed when Lapachito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orlando Tajo didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavinho Luz in the 61st minute of play forced Lapachito's goalkeeper Eulalio Casado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 66th minute Gerson Furlan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eulalio Casado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 71st match minute, Lapachito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jesus Tiso to maneuver through the defense. In the 75th minute Nestor Marques shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jairo Fonseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Lapachito's Orlando Tajo got a free kick in the 78th minute. 1-2 became the score in the 81st minute when Jesus Tiso elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 85th match minute, Lapachito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulino Felipo to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Clube Atlético Luziense defense, Jesus Tiso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jairo Fonseca. The Clube Atlético Luziense fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jairo Fonseca should have stopped the shot.
