After some careless play in the Wellington Phoenix defense, Guilherme Souza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zeca Santos. The Wellington Phoenix fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zeca Santos should have stopped the shot. Zeca Santos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Guilherme Souza's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. 26 minutes into the game, Mazinho Baptista threw the ball into play from the sideline. Imbituba - FSCMZ's Júnior Mattos quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Cesinha Vieira helped the player get up and apologised. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cesinha Vieira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Imbituba - FSCMZ's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
