The wind increased when Serbülent Özan made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Bas Tuitert hit a great ball. In the 53rd minute Tuncay Trabzonlu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without İdris Uzer having to interfere. İdris Uzer was a little too slow when Wim Wilmes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 58th minute. The score was now 0-4. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Netherlands eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
