But to his dismay, Sergio Caitano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 21st match minute, Velez Sarsfield was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eusebio Procopio to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Jesus Napier's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlinhos Vieira was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Carlinhos Vieira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sergio Caitano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Glauco Abraão was shown his second yellow card after 46 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to ≮王者归来≯One Caress getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Glauco Abraão hit a great ball. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Velez Sarsfield's Luciano Raebert was substituted for Jesus Napier. The wind increased when Sergio Caitano made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Marco Dias got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Velez Sarsfield's zone, Marco Dias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Uriel Raymon came out of the goal and Marco Dias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Dias in the 59th minute of play forced Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Uriel Raymon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute of the match Ulysses Coelho shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Uriel Raymon showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Carlinhos Vieira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luciano Raebert in the 70th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind ≮王者归来≯One Caress's goalkeeper Carlinhos Vieira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Adrianinho Torres kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Uriel Raymon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samuca Rossi, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. In the 80th minute, Mauro Antunes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Velez Sarsfield's Victorio Gilesindo couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 80th minute. After some careless play in the Velez Sarsfield defense, Samuca Rossi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Uriel Raymon. The Velez Sarsfield fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Uriel Raymon should have stopped the shot. Uriel Raymon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Júnior Meirelles in the 89th minute of play. Velez Sarsfield's Uriel Raymon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco Dias in the 93rd minute of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
