In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vélez Juniors's goalkeeper Elpidio Vitin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Oflador FC 2003's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Delimir Son in the 17th minute. In the 25th minute, Oflador FC 2003's Quilo Sobera ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Elpidio Vitin. Elpidio Vitin yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. António Roma made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Naike in the 34th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Vélez Juniors's zone, Quilo Sobera stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elpidio Vitin came out of the goal and Quilo Sobera tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Quilo Sobera might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Elpidio Vitin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Quilo Sobera ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, Vélez Juniors's Elpidio Vitin got control of the ball when Quilo Sobera tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Vélez Juniors getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Santos Fonda hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Vélez Juniors's Severo Maule got a free kick in the 45th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Quilo Sobera stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Severo Maule threw the ball into play from the sideline. António Roma breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vélez Juniors's Elpidio Vitin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Quilo Sobera in the 57th minute of play. Cesar Onbera hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. The Vélez Juniors fans' excitement grew in the 64th match minute when Vélez Juniors's Nicolas Roland looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.
