Germany's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frank Sachs was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Germany's Albin Holweck managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Armindo Pegado in the 7 minute of the game. Celso Vasconcelos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frank Sachs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 14 played minutes Futebol Espinhel got a freekick which was hit by Eliseu Tavares. Tommy Kahn was out of position in the 17 minute of play, and Radoslaw Zukowski capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Radoslaw Zukowski really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Albin Holweck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Celso Vasconcelos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 24th minute David Rocha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tommy Kahn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eliseu Tavares in the 34th minute. Frank Sachs kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Radoslaw Zukowski managed to get in a good position for a shot. Futebol Espinhel's supporters rose to their feet, but Radoslaw Zukowski was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Kahn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Humberto Velasques was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Rocha in the 57th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If David Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 80th minute Frank Sachs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celso Vasconcelos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81st minute, Adrian Dreifuss hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 85 minutes, Frank Sachs managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
