The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Luiz Gustavo do Valle's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nemesio Baladi was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. U21 Argentina's Candido Vitin was substituted for Erubiel Carlomagno. The wind increased when Ezequiel Calderón made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luiz Gustavo do Valle in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nemesio Baladi saved U21 Argentina from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Severiano Urbez in the 60th minute of play forced Wellington Phoenix's goalkeeper Vykan Víkingsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nemesio Baladi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Gustavo do Valle in the 63rd minute of play. Vykan Víkingsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ezequiel Calderón in the 66th minute of play. Wellington Phoenix's Ronaldo Barral was substituted for Caco Magalhães. U21 Argentina made a substitution. Robert Lewandowski replaced Severiano Urbez. 71 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Argentina's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jaume Roure was slow to take the kick. During this time Wellington Phoenix's players had a chance to rest. After a rather tough play, Wellington Phoenix's Sandro Trigo got a free kick in the 75th minute. In the 76th minute of the match Ciriaco Gregory shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vykan Víkingsson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Luis Mikolas kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Gabriel Magalhães charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gabriel Magalhães the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of U21 Argentina booed when Wellington Phoenix was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabriel Magalhães didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vykan Víkingsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Lewandowski in the 89th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Wellington Phoenix's Teofilo Unai slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nemesio Baladi. That made the score 1-3 after 90 minutes of play. Nemesio Baladi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Gustavo do Valle in the 94th minute. Vykan Víkingsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karl-Michael Melander, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Luiz Gustavo do Valle could shoot a difficult shot in the 97th minute, which Nemesio Baladi however easily saved by the left post. The U21 Argentina supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Wellington Phoenix's performance. The match ended with a win for Wellington Phoenix.
