That made the score 1-0 after 3 minutes of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edgard Cabral in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mauro Eliazar saved Juventudes Libertárias from getting behind. Natanael Paraense made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Silvestre Noe sent off a good shot on target. In the 10th minute, Alexsandro Simão fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Natanael Paraense, passed just outside the right post. Ritvaldis Rau received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Natanael Paraense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th minute, Dênis Faria got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Juventudes Libertárias made a substitution. Eriberto Fernandes replaced Silvestre Noe. 54 minutes into the game, Alexsandro Simão cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Natanael Paraense was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Eriberto Fernandes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Juventudes Libertárias's supporters rose to their feet, but Eriberto Fernandes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Natanael Paraense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Leonel Faria charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leonel Faria the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edgard Cabral in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mauro Eliazar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 70 minutes Juventudes Libertárias's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Valdir Neves who took care of the corner kick. Juventudes Libertárias's defense didn't have a chance, in the 73rd minute, when Edgard Cabral scored to the left of an out of position Mauro Eliazar, making the score, 2-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Cabral in the 76th minute of play forced Juventudes Libertárias's goalkeeper Mauro Eliazar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Goiás Esporte Clube were awarded a corner in the 77th minute after Juventudes Libertárias's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Valdir Neves took the corner. After a rather tough play, Goiás Esporte Clube's Caco Torres got a free kick in the 88th minute. In the 89th minute of the match Waldir Vargas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Natanael Paraense skillfully saved the ball. Goiás Esporte Clube were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Juventudes Libertárias's much stronger midfield.
