The crowd rose to their feet as Barcelona FC's Antonio Orozco slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Henrich Slany. That made the score 3-1 after 39 minutes of play. 42 minutes into the game, Barcelona FC's Gerardo Sanchez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Henrich Slany made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Metod Mlynar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Henrich Slany made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antonio Orozco in the 53rd minute of play. Virgilio Rojas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Metod Mlynar in the 61st minute. Metod Mlynar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Virgilio Rojas made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Metod Mlynar got free with Virgilio Rojas in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Henrich Slany showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antonio Orozco, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. A collision led to Slovakia getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Vavrinec Koleno hit a great ball. Eloi House was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 91st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Slovakia's Henrich Slany played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonio Orozco in the 93rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Sanchez in the 96th minute of play forced Slovakia's goalkeeper Henrich Slany to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Barcelona FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
