In the 7th minute Nestor Paraibano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Caetano da Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredo Martins's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Caetano da Silveira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. Dida Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciro Elija in the 14th minute of the match. Caetano da Silveira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Martins, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Caetano da Silveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 35 minutes into the match, Alfredo Martins notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Chelsicha's Caetano da Silveira. Caetano da Silveira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Caetano da Silveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Paraibano in the 38th minute of play. In the 42nd minute Nestor Paraibano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Caetano da Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Victor Velloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Ciro Elija made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Ciro Elija made a precise shot to the right of Dida Taffarel. Marquês de Herval's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. 57 minutes into the match, Marquês de Herval's goal looked a bit too open when Luciano Barreto came free, but Dida Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A nice corner shot did that Victor Velloso got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dida Taffarel quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Caetano da Silveira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nestor Paraibano in the 63rd minute. Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ciro Elija in the 72nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Marquês de Herval's Pedro Luís da Rocha got a free kick in the 75th minute. The supporters of Chelsicha booed when Marquês de Herval was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Luís da Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciro Elija in the 80th minute of play forced Marquês de Herval's goalkeeper Dida Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 83rd minute Ciro Elija shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ciro Elija in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dida Taffarel saved Marquês de Herval from getting behind. After 85 played minutes Chelsicha got a freekick which was hit by Luciano Barreto. Pedro Luís da Rocha kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Moussa Kabre hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Dida Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Velloso in the 89th minute of play. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
