Blanco Vidales didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Celta de Virgos's Damaso Marcones shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Damaso Marcones in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Blanco Vidales prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 11th minute Astillero del Guayas were awarded a corner. Enrique Antonijoan went to the cornerflag to take it. Elberg Largan came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Astillero del Guayas's Zaquiel Boñar. But to his dismay, Zaquiel Boñar quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Xuoco Canal hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute, Rafael Virila hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Diego Carredano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Elberg Largan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Celta de Virgos's Elberg Largan got control of the ball when Diego Carredano tried to sneak it across the goal line. 37 minutes into the match, Astillero del Guayas's goal looked a bit too open when Angelo Berbiz came free, but Blanco Vidales reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Celta de Virgos's Angelo Berbiz in the 44th minute got a chance for a shot 44th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Astillero del Guayas's goalie prevented a goal. In the 48th minute Angelo Berbiz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Blanco Vidales saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zaquiel Boñar to strike the kick off in the second half. When Celta de Virgos's Angelo Berbiz in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Astillero del Guayas's goalie prevented a goal. Zaquiel Boñar hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Angelo Enekoitz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 55th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Blanco Vidales. Astillero del Guayas's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. A collision led to Astillero del Guayas getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Xofre Campomanes hit a great ball. Angelo Enekoitz kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. When Angelo Enekoitz fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Celta de Virgos's protests and gave Angelo Enekoitz a yellow card for diving instead. After 66 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Celta de Virgos! Elberg Largan had in the 69thth minute some difficulties stopping Enrique Antonijoan's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Elberg Largan came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by Astillero del Guayas's Enrique Antonijoan. But to his dismay, Enrique Antonijoan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. After having played for 72 minutes, Angelo Berbiz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Celta de Virgos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Angelo Berbiz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zaquiel Boñar got his second yellow card in the match during the 76th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After a rather tough play, Astillero del Guayas's Zaquiel Boñar got a free kick in the 77th minute. Celta de Virgos's Angelo Enekoitz shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 77th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Blanco Vidales but with some difficulty. In the 93rd minute, Xuoco Canal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Astillero del Guayas's Blanco Vidales proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 98th minute of the match, managed to save Astillero del Guayas from getting a goal against them. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
