The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Luiz Mazza could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Julian Drebit made a huge save. A collision led to CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Mathias Breckenfeld hit a great ball. Julian Drebit made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orlando Paraense in the 11th minute of play. After having played for 15 minutes, Afonso Marques managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Afonso Marques was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 18th match minute, LUIZ PANATO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tarcisio Diniz to maneuver through the defense. Julian Drebit showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Mazza, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. LUIZ PANATO's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Orlando Paraense in the 26th minute. The corner led LUIZ PANATO's Luiz Mazza to fire away a dangerous shot which Julian Drebit despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 28 minutes into the match, CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Azevedo came free, but Julian Drebit reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Samuca Campidelis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Guto Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuca Campidelis in the 30th minute of play. 33 minutes into the game, Samuca Campidelis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Guto Taffarel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ booed when LUIZ PANATO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Imet Naschekin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Guto Taffarel came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ's Giuseppe Falcão. But to his dismay, Giuseppe Falcão quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Imet Naschekin made in the 45th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Tarcisio Diniz. Orlando Paraense kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Samuca Campidelis in the 47th minute of play forced LUIZ PANATO's goalkeeper Guto Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 47 minutes into the game, Samuca Campidelis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Guto Taffarel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The LUIZ PANATO players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ were winning 0-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Afonso Marques stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Samuca Campidelis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Guto Taffarel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Julian Drebit made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orlando Paraense in the 55th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Samuca Campidelis in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Guto Taffarel saved LUIZ PANATO from getting behind. Guto Taffarel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Samuca Campidelis in the 58th minute. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ's goalkeeper Julian Drebit, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind LUIZ PANATO's goalkeeper Guto Taffarel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 64th minute of the match CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ got a corner. LUIZ PANATO's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ranko Canelas ran over to the corner to take the kick. CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ's Ranko Canelas was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Guto Taffarel in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The crowd rose to their feet as CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ's Samuca Campidelis slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Guto Taffarel. That made the score 0-4 after 65 minutes of play. Julian Drebit showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Mazza, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. In the 71st minute Orlando Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julian Drebit saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Luiz Mazza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julian Drebit was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. 74 minutes into the game, CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ's Samuca Campidelis nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Guto Taffarel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ's Julian Drebit played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Orlando Paraense in the 81st minute of play. Guto Taffarel came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ's Samuca Campidelis. But to his dismay, Samuca Campidelis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind LUIZ PANATO's goalkeeper Guto Taffarel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Julian Drebit made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orlando Paraense in the 88th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Afonso Marques in the 90th minute of play forced LUIZ PANATO's goalkeeper Guto Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. CEARÁ ESPORTE CLUBE - DMZ's Samuca Campidelis got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luiz Mazza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see LUIZ PANATO lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
