Ruben Sánchez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Normando Severo, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Ruben Sánchez made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Amador Urbasa sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ruperto Mazuste got free with Ruben Sánchez in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bonifacio Geleberto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Palermo in the 25th minute of play. If Adrian Tono had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ruben Sánchez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amador Urbasa in the 27th minute of play. 30 minutes into the game, Martin Palermo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Bonifacio Geleberto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 34 minutes into the match, Martin Palermo notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Real Caballito Juniors's Bonifacio Geleberto. Bonifacio Geleberto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Real Caballito Juniors's Bonifacio Geleberto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Palermo in the 36th minute of play. Bonifacio Geleberto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Palermo in the 44th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The audience was convinced that Martin Palermo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bonifacio Geleberto was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. Claudio Marangoni kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Adrian Tono recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match had gone on for 65 minutes, Normando Severo put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Ruben Sánchez. La Candela FC's Cristian Medina was substituted for Sebastián Battaglia. La Candela FC's Rubén-Darío Feldmann was substituted for Luis Medero. 69 minutes into the match, La Candela FC's goal looked a bit too open when Normando Severo came free, but Ruben Sánchez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bonifacio Geleberto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Marangoni in the 70th minute of play. The supporters of La Candela FC booed when Real Caballito Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ruperto Mazuste didn't get a good kick on the ball. Real Caballito Juniors's Bonifacio Geleberto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save Real Caballito Juniors from getting a goal against them. Ruben Sánchez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruperto Mazuste, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 83rd minute, Cristian Medina ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bonifacio Geleberto was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. With a little luck, Real Caballito Juniors's Bonifacio Geleberto got control of the ball when Cristian Medina tried to sneak it across the goal line. Normando Severo scored 2-4 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ruben Sánchez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The La Candela FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing La Candela FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
