In the 20thth minute of the game Virgiliu Doroftei who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atlético São Sebastião's Qu Feng Bin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgiliu Doroftei in the 25th minute of play forced Atlético São Sebastião's goalkeeper Qu Feng Bin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 28 minutes into the match, Atlético São Sebastião's goal looked a bit too open when Virgiliu Doroftei came free, but Qu Feng Bin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Grêmio FBPA's supporters rose to their feet, but Virgiliu Doroftei was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Godofredo Cebo made a kick off. In the 51st minute Godofredo Cebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andréas Linquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Virgiliu Doroftei sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stayko Vakareliyski couldn't finish the play. Grêmio FBPA's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Stayko Vakareliyski in the 75th minute. Luiz Paulo Marquez made a great header on Grêmio FBPA's corner, it was just that Atlético São Sebastião's Qu Feng Bin managed to reach the ball for a save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gilberto Thuram in the 76th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Qu Feng Bin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd rose to their feet as Grêmio FBPA's Virgiliu Doroftei slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Qu Feng Bin. That made the score 0-2 after 83 minutes of play. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atlético São Sebastião's goalkeeper Qu Feng Bin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The Grêmio FBPA supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Grêmio FBPA would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
