The Austra VFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hudson Gaúcho should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Alberto Soares in the 33rd minute of play forced Austra VFC's goalkeeper Hudson Gaúcho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sócrates Silva in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Reko Nybacka prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Austra VFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Catugi FC the free kick. Wellington Pires scored 2-1 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Reko Nybacka, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
