With a little luck, Garlic Eaters's Nikolay Bonkov got control of the ball when Edu Zonta tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 12 played minutes Garlic Eaters got a freekick which was hit by Jim Tonkin. The supporters of Grêmio FBPA booed when Garlic Eaters was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gul Keep didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nikolay Bonkov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonsinho Neto in the 14th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gez Barber in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Silvinho Perez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Robert Hammond kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Jo Pryor kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the match, Garlic Eaters's Jo Pryor sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Silvinho Perez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 32 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Gez Barber came free, but Silvinho Perez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gez Barber's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Silvinho Perez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. In the 39th match minute, Garlic Eaters was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Hammond to maneuver through the defense. Cliff Gurney kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. 46 minutes into the match, Andrézinho Quadros dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Nikolay Bonkov, 1-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edu Zonta to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Gez Barber cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Silvinho Perez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Túlio Novaes fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grêmio FBPA's protests and gave Túlio Novaes a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Garlic Eaters booed when Grêmio FBPA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Túlio Novaes didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Garlic Eaters's Gez Barber slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Silvinho Perez. That made the score 1-2 after 61 minutes of play. Garlic Eaters's Gez Barber got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Silvinho Perez was out of position in the 68 minute of play, and Jo Pryor capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jo Pryor really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. If Edu Zonta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 76 minutes, Nilton Perez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grêmio FBPA and the Garlic Eaters players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nilton Perez kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. The supporters of Grêmio FBPA booed when Garlic Eaters was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gez Barber didn't get a good kick on the ball.
