In the 14th minute, Beto Montenegro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The C. A. Pipon Pipon fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 18th minute Marcelo-Luis Butcher shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jannes Ruttens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. C. A. Pipon Pipon's Cesario Irazu got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Gualterio Aguirre's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jannes Ruttens was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. After 28 minutes, Marcelo-Luis Butcher mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Deportivo Rodriguez and the C. A. Pipon Pipon players grew even worse after the yellow card. Aldo Hawk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesario Irazu in the 47th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

C. A. Pipon Pipon's Malcolm McIntosh was substituted for Francesco Figueroa. The wind increased when Gualterio Aguirre made the kick off in the second half. Jannes Ruttens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelo-Luis Butcher in the 53rd minute of the match. In the 55th minute of the match Deportivo Rodriguez got a corner. C. A. Pipon Pipon's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Willie Staton ran over to the corner to take the kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gualterio Aguirre in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jannes Ruttens prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nicky Bryson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Aldo Hawk made a huge save. In the 71stth minute of the game Gualterio Aguirre who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but C. A. Pipon Pipon's Jannes Ruttens was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. C. A. Pipon Pipon's Jannes Ruttens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valentim Leão in the 72nd minute of play. Pipon Pipon supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing C. A. Pipon Pipon would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
