Paulão Medeiros started the match with the kick off. In the 13th minute Lauro Cearense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgard de Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 24 minutes into the game, AS Pikachuzim's Ronaldinho Fenomeno nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Edgard de Almeida made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 26 minutes into the match, André Luís Schmidt notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of AS Pikachuzim's Oliverio Kahn. Oliverio Kahn was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Lauro Cearense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Montesclarense E.C.'s Edgard de Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santos Rallo in the 32nd minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, Montesclarense E.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Max Möllgren came free, but Edgard de Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulão Medeiros got free with Oliverio Kahn in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Paulão Medeiros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Oliverio Kahn made a huge save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

AS Pikachuzim's Arif Oğuz Semdin was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 57th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Edgard de Almeida made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luciano Sarmento in the 60th minute. Montesclarense E.C.'s Edgard de Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Max Möllgren in the 62nd minute of play. When AS Pikachuzim's Arif Oğuz Semdin in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. AS Pikachuzim's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Max Möllgren in the 71st minute. If Luciano Sarmento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 75 minutes into the match, Montesclarense E.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Arif Oğuz Semdin came free, but Edgard de Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arif Oğuz Semdin in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edgard de Almeida saved Montesclarense E.C. from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Arif Oğuz Semdin took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Edgard de Almeida to make any attempt to save it. Edgard de Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Ramires, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Max Möllgren was extremely unlucky when he, in the 91st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The supporters of Montesclarense E.C. booed when AS Pikachuzim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Guimarães didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over AS Pikachuzim could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Montesclarense E.C. throughout the match.
