Emanuel Vigil might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arthur Bufi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Emanuel Vigil ran back to his position shaking his head. After 7 minutes of play, PEÇONHENTO FC MG's Tarcisio Luz made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Arthur Bufi was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabriel Delassus in the 10th minute of play forced Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Arthur Bufi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Duarte Félix's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Barra Gol read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Arthur Bufi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cafu de Andrade in the 16th minute of play. After some careless play in the Cruzeiro Esporte Clube defense, Emanuel Vigil kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arthur Bufi. The Cruzeiro Esporte Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arthur Bufi should have stopped the shot. In the 21st minute Emanuel Vigil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arthur Bufi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arthur Bufi came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by PEÇONHENTO FC MG's Tarcisio Luz. But to his dismay, Tarcisio Luz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Arthur Bufi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gabriel Delassus in the 32nd minute of play. In the 38th minute, Hélder Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 39 minutes, Gabriel Delassus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. PEÇONHENTO FC MG's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gabriel Delassus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Deivid Félix kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. PEÇONHENTO FC MG's Barra Gol proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save PEÇONHENTO FC MG from getting a goal against them. 46 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Emanuel Vigil came free, but Arthur Bufi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half PEÇONHENTO FC MG were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Emanuel Vigil made the kick off in the second half. Arthur Bufi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tarcisio Luz in the 56th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, Gabriel Delassus had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arthur Bufi. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gabriel Delassus was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. After 60 played minutes Cruzeiro Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Wanderson Bezerra. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Rogério Teixeira was substituted for Olavo Quadros. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube made a substitution. Daniel Simões replaced Enrique de Mendonça. In the 65th minute of the match Hélio Andrade sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arthur Bufi skillfully saved the ball. Barra Gol took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brock Friend, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of PEÇONHENTO FC MG booed when Cruzeiro Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position.
